About Me

Small cities are often expected to operate at the same level of accountability and compliance as much larger communities—without the staffing or resources to match.

When positions go unfilled, staff wear too many hats, or long-term planning gets pushed aside for daily emergencies, the result is burnout, missed opportunities, and financial uncertainty.

My role is to provide steady, experienced support—so elected officials can make informed decisions, staff feel supported, and the city can plan confidently for the future.

I am a municipal finance director and clerk with hands-on experience supporting small cities through daily operations, long-range planning, audits, and periods of transition.

My work is grounded in the realities of small-city government. I understand what it means to operate with limited staff, tight budgets, and increasing regulatory expectations—often all at the same time. I identified over $500,000 in misallocated funds and worked with city leadership to correct deficiencies, strengthen internal controls, and restore financial accountability. I have secured more than $700,000 in grant funding and helped lead long-term capital and comprehensive planning efforts to position the city for future stability.

In addition, I assist other communities on a part-time and as-needed basis including during periods of administrative transition and special investigation, providing clerical, financial, and operational support while helping implement new systems, procedures, and internal controls. This work has strengthened my ability to step into complex situations quickly, provide clarity, and support elected officials and staff during challenging periods.

I hold a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, dual bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and English, and multiple professional certifications, including Iowa Certified Municipal Financial Officer (ICMFO), Certified Municipal Clerk (IIMC), and Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA). My background in quality improvement and compliance shapes my approach: practical, ethical, and focused on building systems that last.

My consulting work is designed to support small cities that need experienced financial and administrative leadership—but may not need or be able to sustain a full-time position. Whether filling staffing gaps, strengthening financial oversight, supporting audits and reporting, or helping cities plan confidently for the future, my goal is to provide steady, knowledgeable support that fits the scale and realities of small communities.
